FPS Issues in WoW Despite High-End Hardware – Upgrade to AMD or a New GPU?
Hey everyone,
I’m hoping to get some advice on whether upgrading my system would make sense. Here’s my current setup for playing World of Warcraft:
• CPU: i5-13600K
• RAM: 64 GB DDR4 3200 MHz
• GPU: RTX 3090
Despite this, I’m having significant FPS issues, especially during raids or when I’m in groups with more than 25 players. My FPS drops to 20–30 in those situations, which feels really frustrating. I expected this system to handle WoW just fine, but something doesn’t seem to be working as it should.
I’ve already tried troubleshooting, like disabling addons such as ELVUI, but the FPS issues persist.
My first thought was to upgrade the GPU, as the RTX 3090 is no longer the latest. However, a 4090 is currently out of my budget. Would a RX 7900XTX be a viable alternative?
On the other hand, I’ve read that WoW benefits a lot from CPUs with large caches, specifically AMD Ryzen CPUs with X3D cache like the 7800X3D. Switching to AMD would be a much bigger upgrade, though, as I’d need a new motherboard, DDR5 RAM, and a compatible CPU cooler.
What do you think? Would upgrading the GPU make sense, or should I consider moving to an AMD CPU with X3D cache, even if it’s a larger investment?
Thanks for your input! 😊
