Accidentally used an emergency stim and I have questions

I accidentally used an emergency stim when I was completely fine, I tried hitting cancel in time but due to the nature of the emergency stim it happened too quickly. Has this happened to anyone else? And how do you feel about that mechanic?

Funny enough, part of it felt like a lesson in "survival situations"/life in general because in order to get the most out of this thing I wasted I went running into the woods after loot and ended up stranded without my gear in a snow storm after getting the goodies.

Which really felt like a, "most horrible things are preceeded by stupid ideas" moment.
