Explaining to recruiters I missed annual quota
Hi all,
Was recently let go in beginning of February for failure to hit my annual quota last year. Candidly, I was burnt out, my manager and I were constantly in conflict, and I accept some of my own failures bringing me to where I got to today. With that said, it’s been a tremendous relief getting out of my prior company.
The toxicity overall paired with our product being a “nice to have” vs a mission-critical technology led to some very challenging sales cycles.
Brought in some great deals (single largest upsell in team history, second largest new logo in team history), led the leader board for a portion of time for my segment (SMB) but due to recent company changes, anybody who didn’t hit annual was outright let go.
Looking for advice on how to broach this in interviews, tailoring my resume to help reflect this, and ways to better handle this portion?
