Topic: Choose a Partner Pokémon!

The Pokemon franchise, most notably the anime, features many instances of trainers with partner Pokemon, team members that are more or less favored by their trainers and kept outside of their Pokeballs, traveling alongside them. Examples of this include Ash and Pikachu as well as Dawn and Piplup in the anime. This is also something we see featured in Pokemon HeartGold and SoulSilver, where the first member of your party walks behind you wherever you go.

If you were to go on an adventure in the Pokemon universe, what Pokemon would you want to be your faithful companion and why? Would you choose your partner based on practicality? Aesthetic? Dependability?
