Fellow desert environment photographers: is a protective skin beneficial?
I take wildlife photos in the Arizona desert, and sometimes get a little worried about how hot to the touch my gear can become under that intense sunlight.
I shoot on a Nikon Z50 with the Nikkor Z 180-600, and am having a hard time finding info on their sun resiliency. Does anyone have a skin or wrap on their lens and/or body to protect against gear overheating? Or pretty much unnecessary?
Here's a quick example of what I'm referring to. Others I've seen are more of a sleeve wrap, like this.
EDIT: Thanks everyone! General consensus seems to be that anything lighter than Nikon's stock black coating will help reduce heat, but the benefit of skins/wraps over something simple like a gaiter or towel is debatable. Appreciate the insights!
