Why are American hotels so obsessed with carpeted floors?
I mean, I understand that carpets are more cost-saving than wooden flooring so I totally get that for cheaper, budget hotels. But I notice that even most luxury hotels in the US, like the Ritz-Carlton, use wall to wall carpets, which would never be the case for their Asian counterparts. Is it simply a cost-saving thing, or is it like some sort of a culture or tradition here in the US? Do you guys prefer to have carpets in hotels? Personally I hate carpeted floors. It just looks dirty and make the hotel feel less upscale and luxurious.
