Pharmacy gave me wrong prescription, lead to hospital trip
Hi! This happened about a month ago. I take a black label medication (SSRI, they kind where sudden stop can cause major health risks) and get it renewed every 3 months. When I went to get the renewal last month the pharmacist told me they gave me the wrong medication last time and apologized- I was shocked. During those 3 months I had what was considered a brain issue (stroke symptoms) and spent days in and out of the hospital and other medical care centres trying to figure out what was wrong. Turns out, it’s almost certainly due to this mistake.
Is this something I can legally take action against? If so, what are my next steps?
Edit: thank you for the information/advice! I likely won’t pursue anything since it seems like a lot of effort for what it’s worth. For context I did have to get several blood tests, CT scan, nerve test, several eye tests, and dealt with loss of muscle control in half my face for nearly 2 weeks.
