Postponing military service until 37
I am a dual citizen born in the US, and have served in the US military. I’d like to maintain dual citizenship. I am male and in my late 20s.
I learned that I can postpone military service until I turn 37, which would effectively make me exempt, but it is unclear if I would retain my Korean citizenship afterwords.
I understand military service is a sensitive topic in Korea but I can’t seem to find a straight answer on this.
Would appreciate if anyone who’s done this before and can share their experience.
