Question about Insurances and the premiums for pre conditions
Hi everyone,
My Mother has a health condition that requires one or two ultrasounds along with doctor visits a year to monitor the condition. The condition is not severe and just requires monitoring and cheap medicine.
The insurance companies though are turning it into a big problem and asking for huge sums such as 20-30k AED a year or more in total to cover it despite being provided ample evidence and documentation saying that it isn't something that requires high maintenance or major surgeries, etc.
What would you recommend as a due course?
Option 1: Take good Basic Insurance and not declare the condition.
Pros: 5-8K AED a year Cost, still covers the same hospitals otherwise for basic healthcare needs.
Cons: The Ultrasound will not be covered as it is not pre-declared and can cost a few hundred dirhams each visit and the medicine cost will not be covered (But the medicine is cheap anyway)
Option 2: Declare the full condition and accept the premiums being quoted.
Pros: All costs covered including medicines and ultrasounds, peace of mind.
Cons: Price is 2-3X higher than the base package.
Let's assume that even if the ultrasound is 700 each visit, that would make it 1400 AED. If the insurance cost is 6000, adding 1400 would make it 7400 AED a year. Medication would not be more than 150 AED a year. So a total of 7500 AED is estimated. To me, it looks like a much better deal than going out and paying 20-30k AED a year.
Feedback and suggestions are welcome.
