[Spoilers All] Did your OCs develop any unexpected friendships throughout the course of their travels?
The one thing that draws me to the Dragon Age series so strongly is our ability to have our protagonists develop all sorts of differing relationships with their companions, advisors, etc.
My characters get along with most everyone (the avatar equivalent of being a people-pleaser, I guess!), but sometimes I have reservations about the views/attitudes of specific companions, or the game itself sets up a polarizing dynamic between two characters from the beginning. Sometimes my judgements about a character carry over from the previous games they appeared in, and I find myself side-eyeing them with a completely new character who, realistically, shouldn't know a thing.
My question is: Has this ever changed for you or your protag? Maybe your OC kind of took on a mind of their own and the friendship grew despite your reservations, or you ended up changing your own mind about a character as the games progressed?
My personal example would be Cullen and my Adaar in DAI, which ended up being a little bit of both of the above. I wasn't a Cullen fan at all coming into the game, but I rolled an Adaar who I headcannoned as being in a command position with her mercenary company, who had to make some tough decisions during that time, and who is fiercely loyal to her forces. She's also a mage, so she didn't trust Cullen either coming into things... but I just played the scene where Inky checks in on Cullen after witnessing his lyrium withdrawals, and it was so moving to me. I loved seeing him open up to her about what happened to him at Kinloch Hold and how hard it is for him to move on and come to terms with the man it made him, and my Inky divulging her own fears about potentially failing in her role as Inquisitor. It just came across as two people who genuinely empathized with each other reassuring each other in a mutual time of need. Now, they're pretty much best buds, and my opinon of Cullen has essentially done a 180.
