Full-body weakness that ascended slowly?
I’ve had a ton of different symptoms since I first got sick six months ago, but the one that has consistently been there is the weakness spreading bilaterally, starting in my calves and today affecting my entire body and face. The last couple of months I’ve also had twitching. The weakness isn’t handicapping at all so far and I don’t think it impacts my performance in the gym to any huge extent, but even so, it is quite an overwhelming feeling in some places.
As you may have already understood, I’ve feared I may have some type of ALS (IIRC). Now, I’m aware plenty of people on here have experienced full-body weakness and twitching, but my question to you is: has ANYONE had this slowly spreading weakness and found out it’s not ALS? Because all I’ve heard of so far is people who got a sudden weakness in the entire body, and if that were the case for me I wouldn’t worry nearly as much.
As a parenthesis, I did an EMG way back that showed mixed type polyneuropathy. Still, I’m afraid it could have developed into ALS (apparently that is possible, although likely very rare), seeing as the symptoms have changed somewhat; plus I’ve heard MSA (a type of ALS IIRC) is accompanied by polyneuropathy 50% of the time.
If there are others in here with slowly spreading muscle weakness and twitching that know they don’t have ALS/MSA, that would calm me a bit.
