Do Mickey Mouse & Friends, Looney Tunes and Woody Woodpecker still work?

After seeing how the Looney Tunes movie "The Day the Earth Blew Up" performed in its first weekend, it's clear that the brand is apparently no longer working in theaters (at least if things don't improve now). Don't get me wrong, $3.1 million for a not good marketed movie is good, but it won't be enough for the future.

But this failure got me thinking, because Looney Tunes is just as much a classic brand as Mickey Mouse & Friends and Woody Woodpecker. But they're just as outdated as Looney Tunes, aren't they? Let's go through that.

  • Mickey Mouse & Friends: This brand is more of a children's and physical brand these days than anything else. Series like "House of Mouse" or "Mickey Mouse Works" where Mickey and his friends seemed even more diverse, simply don't exist anymore. There aren't even movies.
  • Looney Tunes: The most current theme and the latest movie demonstrate it. This brand is no longer a major mainstream brand. Aside from merchandise and occasional a movie, the brand is more about series. Otherwise, the brand isn't really active anymore.
  • Woody Woodpecker: This brand probably have it the hardest. It's a lucky break, with something every now and then. But this brand is also more of a park and merchandise brand. But series are almost nonexistent, and movies, well, live-action movies, but not big.
