I think the Amex Platinum/Gold have won me over

I’ve had a number of credit cards over the years. My first was a Wells Fargo because that was the bank my mother banked at unfortunately. My second was an Amex Delta Gold (had it for about 3 years but then decided to close to avoid paying a fee). I then got the Barclay’s Apple Card and that’s my oldest credit card.

Right now these are the cards I have:

Barclay’s Apple Card (no longer called that)

Amex Blue Cash Preferred (it used to be a BCE)

Chase Sapphire Reserve

Citi Bestbuy

Citi Costco

Apple Card

Capital One Venture

Alaska Airlines BOA

Amex Gold

Amex Platinum

The Amex Platinum and Gold are my newest cards. I have really been liking the simplicity of using Amex. Most of my money is spent on food, clothes, mortgage, and experiences. Right now I’m meeting the sign up bonuses for both. I’ve been using the Gold for food and the Platinum for everything else.

I really like the perks, such as the Uber credit, airline credit (I tried the hack), I’m very impressed with FHR (I just booked two nights in Tahoe for 200), purchase protection, and the concierge is dope. Digital credit is great as we use Disney plus. I feel like I’m getting a lot of value out of the card. LAX is also my home airport. There is no chase lounge there and I will now be able to take advantage of the centenarian lounge.

I think my strategy moving forward will be to use my Platinum and gold for most purchases and use the sapphire when I’m not booking through FHR or Amex is not accepted. I didn’t take advantage of the reserve’s perks in the same way and I feel that the Amex fits my lifestyle well. Finally Costco Card for Costco. I’m likely getting rid of the other city card, and Venture card. I want to get rid of the Barclays card as well but it’s my oldest card.
