Are mechanics a gift or a curse?

I have been playing a lot of 2s recently and have peaked at c1 div3. I can’t really do any mechanics only the basic stuff like a flick and wall shots. I can’t even air dribble but for me personally It doesn’t really affect my gameplay. When i go up against mechanical players I just wait in net for them to miss or make the save and score a counter attack. So I’m debating If I should start learning more mechs or just stick to what I’m doing?
