This generation of grandparents sucks.

Just a rant. Feel free to add your own rants!

My husband (33m) and I(30f) are dealing with navigating having no “village”. His parents (in their 60s) call us ON THE WAY to our house to tell us they are coming over but when I called them last week to see if they could baby sit so I could have an hour and run some errands, they told me they could maybe be over “in a few hours” but they would have to let me know. My mother (51) literally hasn’t seen our son since Christmas Eve and tells people I keep him from her. He’s 15m and we just wish the people who are supposed to love him, would do it the same way their parents did for us. Shit my son’s name is a combo of his great grandfathers’, that’s how much love we had for them and how close we were.

Edit: I cannot believe how this blew up. I am so grateful to all of you sharing similar stories! I have been reading in between solo parenting today (hubby is working overtime and who can say no to time and a half?) and while I wish I could respond to everyone, I have responded here and there when possible. Thank you all for joining in my rant! I hope to see more stories coming in!! 🥰
