100 dollars and they couldn’t even give us accurate rosters
People joke that we pay $60-100 every year for a roster update, and while I do acknowledge that we didn’t get the exact same game as last year as I enjoy high school and college in road to the show, my enjoyment soon disintegrated when I noticed how bad the rosters were. Players aren’t even listed at their correct positions. For example, Tyler Glasnow is listed as a relief pitcher, when he is one of the best starting pitchers in the game. Something else that is frustrating me is how bad saving is in franchise mode. It took 1 hour for me to correctly update everybody’s position, and I made sure to press save. However, once I reloaded my franchise mode, all of my edits were gone, including my edits to my team’s pitching rotation. I feel as if it’s not that big of an ask that the players be listed correctly, with their correct positions. San Diego Studios is a multimillion dollar corporation, so I don’t think it’s unreasonable that they hire somebody to cross reference with Fangraphs before they release the game. I’ve been told by certain members of the community that I am too critical of things such as the graphics or the failure to launch the companion app on time for release, but the fact that I have to manually update the roster is a step too far. There really needs to be some competition for this game. All we can hope for is the Players’ Union licenses their likeness to some other game developer because San Diego Studios knows they can get away with this because people will buy the game anyways.
