Really Hope Hammer Gets Buffed A Bit
Hi guys, first time posting here.
I came from World (and Iceborne), probably clocked like 2k hours there with just hammer, and I really liked how hammer played in world, it was fluid, satisfying, and mobile while supposedly being a heavy weapon.
I played the most recent Wilds beta and I felt like hammer just feels overall nerfed and so much harder to play? Could be me not getting used to the Wilds systems yet but hear me out.
In Wilds, hammer lost power charge, which could've been a plus if we simply had it built in, but it seems like we just lost it entirely. The level 3 charge attack with powercharge is now locked behind mighty charge, which acts like a LEVEL 5 charge, sure you have access to it after every combo, but if you want to do it raw you need to charge up the hammer 5 stage. In world, we could powercharge before engaging, charge and run in and release it on the head for big bonk. In exchange, we got the charge side step, which is a nice mobility buff, but without the brutal big bang smash I simply don't see myself charging my hammer as much, level 3 charge in Wilds feels bad and slow, level 2 is very difficult to time and position alongside the side step.
Big bang*5 also feels inferior now, sure it has *slightly* more damage than golf swing>mighty charge, but it is so much slower, I really hope it gets buffed.
Hammer's offset attack is sooooooooo satisfying, I've loved landing golf swing in World, but in Wilds it feels so much better when landing it as an offset. But that's the issue! Hammer's offset is locked behind a combo for some reason, if we want to land it, we have to set it up and time it so much harder than other weapons that have it available at all times. Yeah sure we can hold it to some extent but it really requires a lot of practice. How much I hope they made the offset its level 2 charge uppercut instead.
Also with the clutch claw gone, we also lost a really good gap closer, especially for monsters with long neck/high head. In World before the clutch claw fighting Jho and other brutes felt ass, but with its addition it felt so much more doable. Now with it gone again we got less head bonking window. Sure we can hit the legs and topple em over but hammer to the legs just feels ass, you know it.
All in all, I'm quite sure that they won't do much or even anything at all to the hammer, but I really hope it gets just a little bit more love from the devs. Keep bonking hammerbros.
