Could I be allergic to Lo Loestrin Fe?
I have been on birth control since July 2024. I was on a higher hormone dosage pill earlier and had really bad side effects on it so after 3 months my doctor switched me over to Lo Loestrin Fe. I have always had allergies without being allergic to anything, but seems like it only flairs up while I am in North America. When I am in Europe or Asia I have no symptoms(you can read about it in my other posts). Ever since September my allergies have been absolutely worse. I came back to Toronto from my trip in Asia and Europe where I was completely fine in September. I don’t have any seasonal or food allergies but the flare up seems to come and go. Sometimes it will be absolutely terrible for 1-2 weeks then go away for the next 1-3 weeks and then come back. But there doesn’t seem to be a pattern with the place I am in with the pill and the flare ups. Sometimes I have reactions during the placebo period, sometimes right after.
I have trouble breathing, swelling around eyelids and watery eyes. I get really bad eczema on my eyelids, corner of the mouth, neck, chest, back, arm and stomach. I have ruled out being allergic to anything topical like laundry detergent or skincare. I was in Europe for over 45 days without any symptoms recently, until I got back to Toronto and started having all the symptoms for the next 2 weeks. Then they subsided for 2 weeks and I feel like now they are coming back. 2 weeks ago I did switch over to bottled water instead of tap to see if I am allergic to some chemical in tap water and I thought maybe that was making the difference. I am so clueless about what’s causing these flare ups and what makes them go away.
