Is my lack of programming experience going to hurt my chances?
I’ve worked part-time in a public library (youth department) for a few years now. I’ve done plenty of reader’s advisory and a decent amount of collection development, but, while I’ve assisted with programs, I’ve never actually run my own. I’ve also just finished my MLIS.
I’m now looking for new jobs. I’ve just received an offer for a part-time position that would have me running programs, and they’re giving me a few days to think about it. I really wanted to hold out for a full-time position, because I’ve gone without proper health insurance for way too long. But part of me feels that I should just accept the part-time, get the programming experience, and start re-applying again for FT in a few months.
Y'all, I’d really love some advice.
