A theory about the name Flight b741

I think I've realised something about Flight b741's name.

As some of us are conscious of, King Gizz love incorporating elements of thinking about music theory into the music they make. Nonagon Infinity is partly inspired by how they could incorporate 7/4 and 7/8 into a looping album, Polygondwanaland is all about them polyrhythms and IDPLMaL is about writing 7 songs in each of the 7 modes of the major scale.

So, what has this got to do with Flight b741? On the surface, it's a throwback to 60s and 70s southern inspired blues rock rather than looking into music theory.

Well, a lot of this era of blues music uses the mixolydian mode of the major scale which gives it that fun, cool sound. All modes have chord centres which you give the feel specific to that mode. If we were in A mixolydian, they would be G, D and A. Using the Nashville numbering system of giving them numbers rather than assigning them to a specific scale: G would be the flat 7 (or b7), D is the four and A the one.

b741!

Coincidentally (or not haha), Mirage City is in A mixolydian.

What are the first three chords of Mirage City?

G, D and A!

I thought that was a cool little realisation and not sure if anyone else had realised this yet, so wanted to share. :)

Edit: it seems like I'm not the first!
