Help acquiring my identification number

Hello,

I am a dual Canadian Italian citizen born in and living in Canada.

I received my citizenship when I was younger through direct decent, i have a social insurance number and worked in Italy in 2010.

I now have a wife (8 years) and 2 kids and want to start the process of getting them their citizenship as well.

also my wife's parent both canaidan but both born in Italy, lost their citizenship when they immigrated.

I believe not by choice as they were children. so, my wife can't directly apply that way. but i have read her parents may be able to apply for citizenship again possibly but not sure how that works.

i never applied for the passport.

I have contacted an Italian lawyer to try and assist me as this is very complicated. My consulate doesn't have any appointments any time soon.

my main question is how to i gather the needed paperwork and identification number to provide to the lawyer? or do you think the lawyer can obtain it from their Patronato or something similar in Italy?

all i can provide right now is my Italian social insurance number.
