I supposed to be here?

Hi y'all, I started this game because the cover art intrigued me, and I've been loving it. Playing blind, not knowing anything. So. I have a total of 6 vessels now. I've been through and fought Hornet, went through Mantis town but noped out of the bosses. Meandered around through fungus something and ended up in the City of Tears. So, I've beat my head against it and cone against a big flying boss with fireballs, teleworking, and slamming. He's destroyed me a half a dozen times.

Am I supposed to be here yet? Or stronger first? Normal nail.

Also, my guy keeps flipping to face to the right. I jump up to the left and he about faces. I've taken a lit if hits because of this.
