HTL Exam-Special Stains

I’m in the process of studying for the HTL. I’m struggling with where to focus on special stains-specifically whether or not I need to know each and every step and what is happening in terms of color change, chemical reaction or ingredients used in each step. I.e: Schiff reagent utilizes distilled water, basic fuchsin, sodium metabisulfite and 1N hydrochloric acid

If anyone who has taken the exam and can breakdown what I need to focus on it would be super helpful!
