Slightly elevated TPOab+ and TSH, can I prevent it from getting worse?
This is the second year in a row that my (31F) annual blood tests have come back with a positive TPOab result, though it seems slight: 16 IU/mL (last year 12 IU/mL), ref range <9. My TSH is also slightly high: 5.31 mIU/L (last year 3.8 mIU/L), ref range 0.4-4.5. After my blood work last year I kind of forgot about the TPO result because I had to have hip surgery, and that took up most of my mental energy.
This year though it seems like my values are getting worse, albeit slowly. But these numbers also seem very low compared to the other values I’ve seen on here. My doctor ordered a thyroid ultrasound to look for any nodules, I’m working on scheduling that now.
Do I have to monitor how I feel and just wait to start feeling worse?? That seems crazy. Is there anything I can do now to prevent things from getting worse? Do I even have anything to worry about?! TIA!
