Changing options (thoughts on GCSE Music/Drama)
So I'm currently going from y9 into y10, and my school allows us to change options for the first couple of days into Year 10. my options are currently the three sciences, maths, english, computing, spanish, geo, history, and im doing an fmsq on top of that. I go to this stress-inducing grammar school that most ppl come out with all 9s, except most people take a creative, and I haven't. i'm also aiming for all 9s, so I was thinking to switch out history for either music or drama, but I wasn't sure which. The syllabus for both seem awesome, and I know I would enjoy both.
Music: I only started playing a musical instrument last september, and although I enjoy composing in my free time, and would maybe get to grade 4/5 before year 11 starts, I'm unlikely to be qualified enough, since my school also asks for people to have passed grade 5 music theory, which seems hard to do in a year and all in all im worried it would be a bad idea to take music because I can't secure a 9 (but the course looks pretty great, it teaches so much about composition), also given everyone taking it at my school is already grade 6/7/8, it might just be a horrible idea and increase my workload instead of decreasing it.
Drama: syllabus seems great, good at writing so not a big issue, really like acting, my school also gives us 4 theatre trips over the two years, which is awesome, lots of coursework which relieves stress/exam pressure, however the worrying bit is that its, for some reason, thought to be a 'soft' subject, and i really would like to go to oxford/cambridge/the ivy league in america, also its a group accessed subject and I don't want a bad group.
I only have a day to make this decision (as my school asks for us to make any changes on the first day so theres a better chance that theyre able to accomodate the changes). Any advice for any of the subjects or anything like that is really appreciated, thank you!
