I stepped down from a 300 to 150
I had a serious crash and injury on my 19 carbed tx300 back in may, when the bike revved uncontrollably while going over a whoop section in the woods. I broke my clavicle, a rib in my back, and somehow got a blood clot running down my entire arm.
I took my tx300 to a very reputable mechanic here in Michigan, and they said they found the carb needle was roughed up. They said they replaced it and that it was good to go. I took it out 2 weeks ago for my first ride since my injury. The bike did it again. This time I grabbed the clutch in, but I told myself that’s the last time I ever ride that death machine.
My plan was to buy a brand new 300 or 250, as most guys said I’d regret the jump down to a 150, but then I found this 24 model TE150 for 8,400 out the door.
I do not regret my purchase. I took it out yesterday and I just love it. All I ride is tight Michigan single track trails. We don’t have mountains or hardcore terrain. I’m pretty certain I’ll be faster on this 150 than I was on my 300. It’s light asf, it sounds good, it’s quiet, it doesn’t vibrate your hands and doesn’t give you arm pump, it crawls just like my 300 does. Yes you need to shift more, but to me that’s all part of the fun. In my opinion, where I ride, you do not need a 300 to rip these trails.
