Before tonight’s game against the Maple Leafs, here’s my rant on Brad Treliving.

I want to preface this rant by acknowledging: -Darryl Sutter made some poor coaching decisions last season (ie. only giving Matthew Phillips 3 games, over starting a struggling Markstrom, putting Nick Ritchie in a season deciding shootout, etc.) -Ownership meddling might have played a role in that offseason where Gaudreau and Tkachuk left and the current state we’re in. -Players and coaches need to find a way to improve themselves because management can only do so much. Also the jury is still out if Conroy can actually be a GM for this organization (not off to a good start with the Sharangovich acquisition; also please don’t resign Lindholm and Hanifin; also he was unfortunately Treliving’s assistant for the past 10 years…)

Now the rant begins: Brad Treliving is the reason our team is becoming a messy excuse of an NHL product. That off-season single-handedly sent us into multiple years of hell. The moves that should anger Flames fans:

-not resigning Gaudreau a season before his contract ends (the fact that he was able to resign Auston Matthews, but failed to do so with Johnny just rubs me the wrong way) -signing Weegar and Huberdeau to expensive deals before they even played a game with Calgary (did Treliving even consider letting them play the season, evaluating them, then trading them at trade deadline if things don’t work out rather than prematurely signing them?!) -trading Sean Monahan and a 1st round pick to Montreal [for nothing] to then signing Nazem Kadri to another horrendous contract (what’s wrong with letting Monahan play the final year of his contract in Calgary then potentially trade him at last year’s trade deadline if things don’t work out?)

There are so many other bad moves I did not mention, but this goes to show you how much you should hate Brad Treliving. And the nerve of him to leave Calgary for Toronto and using Sutter as a convenient reason to leave makes him a cowardly weasel in my eyes, unwilling to deal with the mistakes he made.

If I’m the Maple Leafs coming to Calgary (Jan. 18, 2024), I would order a bodyguard for Brad because I guarantee you: Flames fans will wait for him to appear just to exchange fisticuffs with him.

Also, if any flames fans follow any religion [like me], I would recommend you guys to pray to any god from your respective religions that the Maple Leafs don’t make it anywhere near a Stanley cup final so long as Brad Treliving is their GM.

I would also like to propose a challenge where Flames fans share pictures/videos of their middle finger against the TV every time Brad Treliving shows up on screen.

PS if the Maple Leafs wins a cup during Brad Treliving’s GM tenure, I’m officially demanding Flames ownership to sell the team as they may the ones ruining the Flames as we know it…
