How can i meet "good" people

Long story short... I want to find someone who will accept me as I am or love me, but I don't know where to find them. Dating apps are not trustworthy at all, almost everyone is "weird" Also I live in a small city and the city is mostly full of homophobes I don't know if I should sit and wait for the love of my life do you have any suggestions :c
